About Melissa Terzis
How it Started
I was born and raised just outside NYC in Greenwich, CT – but not the Gold Coast part of Greenwich. Our neighborhood was very middle-class. My grandparents were Greek immigrants and it is a huge part of my identity. My grandfather left Greece during WWI, during the Greek Genocide. He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 40 years, and taught my dad many real life lessons about standing up to bullies, investing money, and getting an education – because “no one could take it away from you.”
My parents were born during the Great Depression, and they ingrained a fear of wasting money in my brothers and I. Making smart financial decisions, sometimes to the point of comedic frugality, was an overarching theme in their home. “Eat around the mold!”

Get that Education
In 2001 as I enrolled in Grad School, I discovered a passion for homebuilding and real estate while working for a Maryland land developer. I graduated with a 4.0 from the University of Baltimore with my MBA in 2003.
I’ve had a great experience with Melissa buying our new home in Maryland. She has history in real estate ethics, her YouTube content highlights her local DC market expertise, and her in-person communication is obviously top tier. She held our builder accountable and helped us spec our home to ensure high resale value. I’d recommend her to anyone.

In Love With Real Estate
I took a position with a home builder in land development. Every day posed a brand new set of challenges I would have to solve at a lighting pace.
The Crash
To this day, the memories of the years following the crash have colored my investment philosophy. I became much more conservative and diligent with my investments, a practice I now use to guide clients on their real estate journey.
Melissa Terzis is great! She knows the market, listens to her clients , and goes the extra mile. I was looking for condo at a time of very low inventory and rising interest rates. She was patient and guided me to find the best fit for my situation. She was honest about the competition and worked hard to get me what I wanted. Rebuilding Among the Rubble
In 2009, I got my real estate license.
Those first years were rough. By 2014 my family had grown into a foursome and while my two children, both under two at the time, were a handful, so was my business. Due to the fact that I have no filter, I became known as a “No BS,” family-friendly real estate agent and expert in the DC real estate market.
DC Real Estate Mama today
In 2017, I founded East Coast Corgi Rescue from my home in Glover Park in Washington DC. I live with my husband, two daughters, two dogs, two gerbils and whatever other animals make their way to our house.
